چکیده
Objective: There are controversies regarding the management of Cerebral Contusion. The study sought to identify parameters influencing surgical outcome individuals suffering from a brain contusion.
Methods: A quasi-experimental was conducted at Department Neurosurgery, Mayo Hospital Lahore, and 37 patients were included. information on mode/mechanism injury, time presentation, clinical contusion type/location collected. GCS (at 1st, 2nd 6th weeks) GOS used for neurological assessment pre-operative post-operative status.
Results: average age presentation 42.57 years. 21.6% female 78.4% male patients. 64.9% presented with road traffic accidents. 4% hospital within 12 hours 16.2% between 24 hours, 5.4% 48 hours. 29% had seizures upgoing plantar. 18% hemiparesis or hemiplegia. Light reflex absent in 40.5% kept improving postoperatively. admission averaging 8 which improved 10, 12, 13 after surgery. presenting mean 1st-week, 2nd-week, 6th-week, 30th PAD. Counter coup injury 15/15 right 1st week. Mean 5 most improvement seen frontoparietal, temporoparietal, fronto-temporo-parietal locations. PAD 4.
Conclusion: following cerebral depends upon initial GOS. Therefore, better is prognosis patient.

Surgical management of early massive edema caused by cerebral contusion in head trauma patients.
Early massive edema caused by severe cerebral contusion results in elevation of intracranial pressure (ICP) and clinical deterioration within 24-72 hours post-trauma. Previous studies indicate that cells in the central area of the contusion undergo shrinkage, disintegration, and homogenization, whereas cellular swelling is predominant in the peripheral area, suggesting that early massive edema ...

متن کاملSurgical strategies for neurological function preservation in severe brain contusion.
AIM Traditional surgical strategies for severe brain contusion are constantly associated with variable degree of postoperative neurological dysfunction, which is in part attributed to the location and severity of contusion. The purpose of this study was to compare and evaluate these current surgical strategies, with an emphasis on neurological function preservation. MATERIAL AND METHODS A ret...
